Make up Artist of  Hollywood Films, Fashion and Print: James Clark says: I started my career in the theatres of Glasgow as a make up assistant, working my way through the ranks to become a make up designer for film, fashion and print. Travelling across the UK and Europe with a range of clients in both the media and offering private consults, I have been able to create a sense of style to my make up designs that is uniquely my own.

With have credits ranging through magazines, films, websites, wedding parties, fashion shows and commercial make up work. I strive to create the best possible work and continue to be as dynamic creatively as I can be.

Inspired by old Hollywood’s glamour and decadence, as well as the people I meet everyday, I am always exploring new avenues and working with people to create inspiring work from the beautiful to the bizarre.
With a career spanning ten years and counting I take pleasure in my work and see each new day as an opportunity to do something creative and unique.

I do a wide range of work from live events and fashion shows to film and print work.  Adding classes and guest speaking as well as being a brand ambassador for Cazcarra London to my many credits and accolades.

I don’t think there is a single style of make up I don’t enjoy, its about the job. I trained and learned my craft in the theatre and now find myself loving the chance to work on fashion shows, there is something completely theatrical about these events that I just love.  Creating make up from bridal through to the more bizarre and gory is my passion.

Q: Can you share your most memorable moment you had while doing any celebrity’s make up?

Ans: The most memorable time I have of being a make up artist was working with a veteran actress of the stage and television industry.  She shared stories of her career and personal life, such an intimate experience to be a part of a legend of televisions life, we sat in a little corner, all around us was buzzing with people going on and off the runway for the fashion show and we sat in a little bubble talking about her travels, heartbreaks and career.  Something I was immensely humbled by.

Q: If you could make up a perfect face, what would you use?

Ans: For the perfect face I am a big fan of airbrush make up, I think a good airbrush foundation is an absolute must for anyone.  I personally prefer Cazcarra London (http://cazcarralondon.com/contents/en-uk/d86_airbrush_makeup.html) I love that I can custom blend the colours and the finish is just perfect for the flawless skin look, even when  I am applying with a sponge or a foundation brush I still get that flawless and perfect finish.

Q: Can you give some tips to improve natural glow of skin ?

Ans: Drinking plenty of water, good rest and a good moisturiser are the best things for good skin.  Of course little cheats like highlighter cream make all the difference.
