We got an opportunity to talk with Designer Sumit DasGupta who showcased his collection at Bangalore Fashion Week. Here is an Exclusive interview that he gave to us for Readers of MyFashionVilla.com. 1. Tell us about your collection at Bangalore Fashion Week… My theme of BFW was DURGA PUJA, and all the outfits were designed keeping that one thought in mind that it should reflect that festive spirit what this great state Bengal is famous for.
Since I belong to a state that is well known for its Rich Art & Culture, I always ensure I could showcase it in my collection. So thats what the idea was this time.
2. Which colors you have chosen for your collection this time?
The best colors for the outfits in DURGA PUJA are the mixture of Bright colors. Thats why i choose- maroon, green, move, electric blue, golden, ivory, bride mango, etc. and designed the best outfits with the mixture of these colors, which people would love to wear in festive season.
3. What fabrics you included in your collection?
Fabrics that I used for collection was best for its quality including, brocade, net, georgette, lycra, chiffon, velvet and sattin, etc and at the same time we made it sure that it should be wearable in that particular season as well.
4. What will be hot this season for brides to shop for their wedding?
Since the festive season has got started now, multi-color lehengas, fancy brocade lehengas, 20 mtr. gher anarkali suits, shaded lehengas & velvet(cut work) corset. Keeping that in mind whatever trend is on top & hot for this season. Pattern sarees with a designer touch will also be in demand.
5. Tips for the brides.
I must suggest that the brides with the slim figure can wear all the above outfits but it must be matching with their complexions. For the brides with a bit healthy figure, I will suggest Fancy Brocade Lehengas. The conclusion is that they must choose which suits on them perfectly not in terms of colors but things that we mentioned above.
6. Where one can buy SUMIT DAS GUPTA?
For the time being, you can shop my collection from my workshop, which is located in one of the suburbs of Mumbai called GOREGAON(w.) and once I am done with this few fashion weeks that I am looking forward to, I am going to open my first ever outlet in Mumbai. People can also check it on my facebook page that is “sumit dasgupta”. Also my label name is “SORBOMANGALA”.
7. What are the future plans?
Well, there are lots of fashion weeks to do this year, so I am just focusing on my designing, so that I can present the best outfits this year and in future years also..
